For this training I worked on the ArcGIS I plan to incorporate into the website for Historical Landscapes of Grinnell. This map will (potentially) be used to map various sites in the Grinnell area that students in the class next semester will research in a historical context. The present day map is layered with a 1911 map of Grinnell (credits to Tierney who shared the map with me) and will represent the changing landscape of the Grinnell township and its relationship to Grinnell College.
The main difference from the first time I used ArcGIS is that this time I was creating the dataset used to import information into the map. It helped me understand how ArcGIS categorizes things and displays them on the final version of the map. I feel a lot more confident using ArcGIS than the first time since I have a better understanding of it now.
